Night Before Surgery

The night before your surgery, you should not eat or drink anything after midnight.  This means no gum, water, mints, or vitamins unless we have given you special instructions stating otherwise.  This is very important for your safety.  If you eat or drink anything prior to your surgery, your procedure may have to be delayed or cancelled.

You will be asked to wash the surgical site with an antibacterial soap the night before surgery (unless the area is covered by dressing or cast).

If you are taking medications, you will be given instructions on what you should do.

It’s important to get a good night’s rest.

If your young child is having surgery, we will discuss special feeding instructions. On the day of surgery, one parent must remain in the Center at all times.  Please bring diapers and a bottle or sippee cup.  Your child may keep a small toy or special items with him/her for comfort.
